Only one more day to go before the holidays. I can’t wait. Not that I’ve got much planned, though, but the break is well awaited. I may go and see my daughter in Yorkshire, and then we can walk up Pen-y-Ghent, as we didn’t quite make it the last time. Whatever you are doing this summer – have a lovely time!
I’m very proud of my book. Ever since I was small, I wanted to write a book, and, well, now – I have. I entered NanoWrimo (National Novel Writing Month) last year, and wrote the story, from start to finish in 30 days. I followed the rules, which basically stated that you had to start on the first of the month, and then, by the thirtieth, you had to have written 50,000 words. If you managed to do that, you could have your book published for free. I managed it.
When this dropped through my letterbox, I was so proud. Not because of the fact that it is a major work of literary fiction, (it isn’t) but just because of the fact that I wrote it. And yesterday, I had a day off work – so what did I do? well, I published it on Kindle of course!
The moral of the tale : if you want to do something, don’t let anything stop you. Just do it, as they say in the adverts.
I feel so proud.
Friday was the first night of the proms. It was televised on BBC 2, and thoroughly enjoyable it was too. I don’t think the purists liked it, as it was too light, or something, but I enjoyed it.
It was a lovely way to spend a Friday evening after a hard week at work. a glass of wine, some Thornton’s chocolates (a gift from a colleague who thinks I’m the bee’s knees), and some lovely music.
I’m also enjoying Real Housewives of New York City, on Saturdays. Repeats, apparently, but I haven’t seen it yet. Are these people for real? Well, they must be, because it’s called real housewives…… They have so many worries, that it’s a wonder they function (How many pairs of shoes should I buy at a thousand dollars each? What will I do if I break a fingernail at my charity function? Can I really venture downtown? What colour should I dye my dog this week? (Okay, I made that last one up, but it’s bound to come into another episode, no doubt about it.))
I have eclectic taste when it comes to television, I do.
